Vigneti del Vulture was founded in 2009 in Acerenza, Basilicata, in Soutehrn Italy.

The winery’s final goal is to showcase Basilicata’s ancient native varietals
and bring them to the international markets. It was the Greeks around the 7th century BC that began the region’s history of winemaking. Vulture, wedged between two seas of the Mediterranean basin, is part of a large area that extends to the north of the Basilicata region, dominated by the austere profile of the Mount Vulture, a non-active volcano which provides a wealth of minerals for the soil which gives the grapes their complexity. The uniqueness of the wines is inextricably linked to Mount Vulture, hence the use of the name for the winery.

In the heart of Basilicata

Vigneti del Vulture is a very young winery located in the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture production area. It was completely rebuilt in 2009 from the remains of a local cooperative. This had excellent grapes, but lacked the necessary economic know-how and a feel for the market. The initiators of Vigneti del Vulture recognized the great opportunity to produce excellent wines here in a unique landscape and started their new project in southern Italy.

Today, in the restored cellar of Acerenza, located in the small region of Basilicata, between the heel and toe of the Italian boot, wines of a very high quality level are produced.

The key to success

The climate and the soil

The key to the success of the Vigneti del Vulture winery lies, among other things, in the climatic and topographical conditions: the pristine pure nature, the volcanic soils rich in minerals and therefore producing wines of great complexity, the selected vineyards with organic certification and the altitude of 800 meters above sea level, which gives a great aromatic intensity, especially to the white wines.
